“E = e+1”: A theory for everything

This afternoon, on November 10, 2020, I found myself contemplating the nature of existence as a whole—everything that exists within my understanding. To put it simply, I asked myself:

“Is everything (E) explainable by reason (e)?”

Based on my life experiences, I once assumed that E = e, meaning everything could be explained. However, problems never truly end as long as we exist. If they did, there would be nothing left to strive for. Every existence continues because there is always at least one missing solution that keeps the system in motion.

From this realization, I propose my “Theory of Everything”—for all that exists in my perception:

E = e + 1

Here, E represents everything that exists for me, while e represents all that is explainable to me. That additional +1 symbolizes the ever-present unknown, the aspect that remains beyond explanation.

I see this equation applying to many aspects of life. For instance, I can understand every moment of my life—except for one: the moment of death. Similarly, every outcome we achieve can be explained, except for one element that we often attribute to luck.

Even in the context of time, we categorize it into past, present, and future. In this case, E = 3 (three aspects of time), while e = 2 (the past and present, which we can comprehend). The remaining +1 represents the future—the part that always remains uncertain.

This realization is an evolving thought, one I hope to refine further over time.
